I think that Rudy Treviño was a a student at UTSA in the 1970’s even earlier. As I recall, he and Carolina Flores were our first MFA students in UTSA’s very newMFA program that we were establishing in 1974–before we even had the 1604 campus!

The sixties was a period of awakening for Chicanos throughout the United States...the Vietnam War took its toll but Chicano culture and artistic expression exploded realistically and united us as a people ...today, we need to unite once again and thanks to artist Rudy Trevino and Dr. Romo for helping us to remember who we are, and what we must do; to not only survive the current wave of fascism that wants to subjugate us, but unite our resolve to eliminate it....Mario Longoria
