An exhibit at the Guadalupe Bookstore in San Antonio’s Westside features works by Celeste de Luna, a highly creative artist and emerging master printer. De Luna’s woodblock and linoleum prints are bold with fanciful and surreal images. In her artist statement, she discusses an interest in exploring “the complexity of relationships and power dynamics between people, animals, domestic spaces, and landscape.”
Another great applause to Dr. Ricardo Romo for introducing us to another brilliantly talented, creative, insightful and innovative Chicana artist. As I read her biographical narrative, I am overwhelmed with De Luna's delightful and heartfelt sense of cultural pride...that in reality erupts in one's heart, sight and pride. There is no doubt that we, as a people are tremendously blessed with artistic, cultural, respectful and extraordinary humanistic qualities. All these ideals, descriptions, illustrations, creativity and themes reach out to the viewer to capture their imagination and senses. This is my first viewing of De Luna's work and not the last. Our people (overall) are a blessing to this ungrateful country, but our artists today are steadfast with their creativity, paintbrushes and oils to help keep us mindful of our cultural sensitivity and more importantly, our personal and collective commitment to overcome the evil that confronts us today.
Thank you for this gorgeous introduction to Celeste de Luna and her work. I am all the way in the Northeast and every time I am nurtured by your coverage of Chicano art and artists. Gracias! Celeste's work is breathtaking.

So happy to see her work. Surely, Saint Edwards knows about Chicana art? Thanks. Meta
