Just read a New York Times review "A ‘Chicano Hieronymus Bosch’ Has an Unflinching Vision of America" about a Vincent Valdez exhibition at The Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art: Vincent Valdez: Just a Dream …

May 25, 2025, to April 5, 2026. Mass MoCA, 1040 Mass MoCA Way, North Adams, Mass.; 413-662-2111, www.massmoca.org.

I was introduced to the work of Vincent Valdez through the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture e-mails to which I have subscribed since the museum first opened. And I think I have read about Valdez in your Substack columns as well, Dr. Romo. Thank you for your enthusiasm, scholarship, and generosity in reporting about Latino artists.

Dr. Romo...thanks once again for sharing yet another interesting and inspiring place of art. Yes, New York City is a grand and extremely diverse gathering of courageous, charming and gifted human beings. No doubt their significance and ultimate standing in the world is well known...appreciated and respected...and as you have explored and uncovered, their Latino/Mexican influence in art is grand and a great part of their exposition. Again, you have mastered the heartfelt beauty of its art and meaning... that you now share with us all. No doubt there is a genuine people and artistic unity in New York, that should inspire us to appreciate and learn the special humanity and history that is their legacy of power and endurance.
