A mi primo, ¡gracias! As you may know, I was born in Corpus, lived there till I was 5, and later spent seven years living there in my 20s, when I worked for the Caller-Times; I still have some extended family living there. And I have a family connection to the King Ranch! One of their much-loved and respected Kineños, Don Javier Quintanilla, was married to my maternal great-grandmother, Josefa Martinez. Like her husband, she is buried in the graveyard on the Laureles Division, the one closest to Corpus. Through Don Javier, I also am connected to Lauro Cavazos and his family. It was wonderful to read about these beautiful paintings of King Ranch and its people at the Art Museum of South Texas.
What a treat to have stumbled upon this fascinating read, Dr. Romo
Thank you for casting such awareness upon the Art Museum of South Texas. It is a such an under appreciated jewel within the Texas crown.
